Post-disciplinarity and environmental research in the brazilian university: the Amazon region
Keywords:
Universidade, Interdisciplinaridade, TransdisciplinaridadeAbstract
The Brazilian university, aware of the responsibility toward the environmental preservation of the Amazon region, has been making efforts to foster interdisciplinary research. The objective of this paper is to report the study of this process; the object of study comprises proper circumstances for the development of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research (which the authors call post-disciplinarity) at the beginning of this century, since the need to protect the environment has been growing. A deductive method has been employed to approach the issue: it means that a particular phenomenon is studied in the light of existing theories. Data collection included bibliographical research, such as news from the media and publications from official organizations, as well as document research. The conclusion was that the complexity of contemporary problems does not enable a fragmented view of reality. Therefore, transdisciplinarity is the most adequate way to study it.Downloads
