Some ideas on gender and teacher profession

This article tries to reflect about gender and consolidation of teacher profession in 1930's and 1940's. It also tries to analyze the entrance of women in the teaching force establishing relations between gender and the testimony of five teachers who started to teach at that period. Gender is understood here as a social construction that address to different interests according to different historical moments. The testimonies show that gender construction of those teachers were related to specific interests.Downloads
