Abstract

Environmental education can create an environmentally literate citizenry suited to addressing sustainability. This article aims to present a literature review on environmental education and how approaches to studying fire are carried out in primary education worldwide. The literature review combined the quantitative perspective through the bibliometric and qualitative review based on the systematic review supported by Artificial Intelligence and the Scopus and Web of Science databases. The results revealed the bibliometric analysis of 7,555 from the Web of Science database and 12,931 from the Scopus database, totaling 16,421 articles published since 1968, excluding 4,065 duplicate articles in both databases. The production growth rate was around 11.43%. It was also observed that female researchers occupy the top of the lists with the highest production and the most significant impact, according to the H index. The themes of climate change, biodiversity, waste management, and ecology are central themes in environmental education worldwide. Furthermore, among all the documents found in the bibliometric perspective on environmental education, only 0.152% worked on fire aimed at teaching in schools and universities. Finally, regarding the perspectives of the studies, it was possible to verify the preference for fire analyses for prevention, safety, and suppression of forest fires.
