Abstract

This article aims to discuss relevant aspects of contemporary education and the contributions of the theory presented by the Russian psychologist Vasili V. Davidov. This paper aimed to address important elements for understanding the Theory of Developmental Education, as well as their conditions for supporting a teachers' reflection about development (thought) of the students. It was concluded that to establish a theoretical basis to guide an education system is not a random practice, it requires a constant engagement of persons involved in directing and developing the educational proposals. This provision should result in collective control criteria of public educational activities and involves, among other factors, the emphasis on teacher training and an efficient and purposeful system of evaluating schools. We need an educational development that fosters quality education with ethics and with a didactic compatible with social needs and intellectual intended for students, whether from the perspective of the Historical Cultural education (developmental) or not.
