Abstract

This work investigates the basic concepts that make the democratic management of public schools. Through literature review, qualitative in nature, are of some theoretical discussions about democracy, participation, age, autonomy and emancipation, which, in a supportive environment will provide a reflective school the construction of the critical subject, able to understand their needs and progress in redesigning / rebuilding of their reality. The discussions indicate a growing interest in the school and the subject that it, in order to understand their roles and assume a posture of confrontation at any kind of barrier which opposes the democratic exercise.
