<b>Os jovens em comunidades do Orkut: as culturas juvenis expressas neste ambiente</b>

Abstract

The growing participation of adolescents in the social network Orkut and in its communities makes it possible for us to learn about youth cultures expressed by adolescents in their communications, providing us with a rich context for investigations in the fields of psychology and Education. This study presents two Case Studies comprising the communities entitled “Teenagers Suffer” and “I love being a teenager”. The data that led to the choice of these communities, after a research using the word adolescent, are described. The Case Studies show a significant interaction within the scope of the Forums, comprising games created by the members of the community themselves. The titles of the communities are treated mainly in the Polls, such as, for example, the complaints manifested by adolescents about this period of their lives in the community “Teenagers suffer”. The importance of schools and their appropriation of this knowledge of what adolescents think and the ways adolescents interact nowadays is pointed out, as adolescence is changing very quickly, influenced by different sociocultural factors.
