A foucauldian analysis of the concept of recognizing the right of sexualities

Abstract

This study aims to analyze, based on Michel Foucault's contribution, the redefinition of the concept of recognition of the right to sexualities. For this, it uses the research technique of indirect documentation of the bibliographic review. Thus, a bibliographic review is carried out fundamentally anchored in the contribution of Michel Foucault (1999, 2005, 2010, 2014a, 2014b). Therefore, this writing, in addition to having an introduction and final considerations initially, is structured in two moments. Initially, the category of sexualities is redefined, based on Foucault's contribution, and then the redefinition and restructuring, based on Foucault, of the conception of recognition of the right to sexualities is analyzed. Finally, it is argued that, following the Foucaultian bases, it is essential to rethink sexualities beyond the discursive system of truths built in Western society, so that, from there, one can move towards the re-signification of the concept of recognition of the right of sexualities from emancipatory and plural bases.
