PHYSICAL EXERCISE PRATICE AND NUTRITIONAL CHARACTERISTICS OF NUTRITIONAL SERVICE WORKERS

Obesity is caused by an excessive energy amount by its expendidure, when the organism receive anergy from food in quantity higher than the expendid, the body weight increases. The aim of this study was to identify the prevalence of obesity in workers from a hospital Nutritional and Feeding Unit, as well as the regular physical exercise practice by these people. During June to August 2001, all workers were interviewed and nutritionally evaluated by the author of this study. In this study we verified that 30% of the workers were obese and the majority works in the kitchen. Furthermore, we found that 100% of obese people were women, high aged, with low education, white skin and they don´t praticed physical exercise regularly.Downloads
