Educational management and the relevance of environmental education to promote sustainability

Abstract

Educational administration must ensure that the implementation of socio-environmental practices is strengthened, especially in interpersonal interactions and intersubjective relationships, as environmental and social values ​​and attitudes, when internalized by subjects, tend to be reproduced with greater ease and less resistance. The objective of this article is to analyze how school administration promotes environmental education initiatives and sustainability principles in schools in the Municipal Network of Saloá - PE. The methodological approach adopted for this study was a bibliographic review. The research has a qualitative-quantitative approach, using the documentary research method. The results obtained indicate that socio-environmental practices are not being implemented by the majority of educational institutions in the municipality of Saloá/PE. The urgency of training school managers through training in environmental education was also highlighted. The school manager figures as the main articulator in structuring the guidelines of the school environment. Through such action, management policies for all school resources are developed, which will establish connections between a variety of actions, including those related to sustainability.
