Abstract

The aim of this study was to know the presence of airborne fungi in the FURG´s Central Animal House and to evaluate the fungical contamination before and after the half-yearly cleaning routine procedure. We collected samples from the air in three rooms named: Mice Module, Rats Module I and II. The collects were made through settle plate technique in PDA (Accumedia®) in triplicate during 10 minutes at the height of 1 meter from the floor. The genera identification was made through the macroscopic observation of colonies associated to direct exam slide. The fungical presence was measured in CFU´s and the frequences were shown in contingence tables. The genera Penicillium, Cladosporium and no sporulated fungi were the most prevalents.
