PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER AS A TRANSFORMATIVE AGENT IN THE POLITICAL PEDAGOGICAL PROJECT OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION.
Abstract
THE PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER AS A TRANSFORMATIVE AGENT IN THE POLITICAL PEDAGOGICAL PROJECT OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION.
This article is derived from a research study that investigated the role of physical education teachers in early childhood education, focusing on the discipline's role within the political-pedagogical project (PPP). Conducted with 25 physical education teachers from the public school network in 12 cities in the state of São Paulo, and through documentary analysis of six PPPs from schools in Itupeva-SP, it revealed that teacher training does not prepare them to contribute effectively to the PPP. Physical education has little space in schools, with a predominantly biological approach in early childhood education. The PPPs reflect this reality, with physical education being addressed in a limited and decontextualized manner. It is proposed that changes in teachers' perspectives regarding initial and continuing education, as well as their leadership during the elaboration and implementation of the PPP, incorporating body language as an interdisciplinary element, can strengthen the role of physical education teachers and improve the quality of early childhood education.
