This study in essay format aims to bring updates and new reflections on the little use of fights, martial arts and combat sports in Brazilian school physical education. Today, these modalities are an integral part of the school curriculum in the area of physical education. However, resistance to its uses in classes is observed. It was identified that the main arguments for not using the modalities are prejudices about the modalities on the part of physical education professionals themselves, who do not feel safe to teach technical foundations.
