Abstract

Traditionally characterized by a limited international activity inherited from the colonial times and ignorance of the people, Brazil is trying to promote in recent years a real effort in search of a "global role". This paper aims to discuss the clear change in the attitude shown by the Brazilian Government in this new era of world relations. This article also intends to highlight the decisions, the history and reflections of other activities set in motion by our diplomatic corps. Finally, it aims to describe the Brazilian position in the political-military scenario of the UN, and to discuss the real possibilities and obstacles for reaching a permanent seat in the Council.
