ANTIRACIST PHYSICAL EDUCATION
CULTURAL CURRICULUM IN FOCUS
Abstract
This article presents a study conducted with fifth-grade students from a public school in the municipality of Araraquara/SP, in the year 2022. Grounded in the guidelines of the cultural curriculum, supported by works from the theoretical fields of Critical Multiculturalism and Cultural Studies, its aim was to analyze a teaching proposal that focused on African and indigenous bodily practices in Physical Education classes. To do so, it was necessary to map out the practices experienced by the students, which had not been included in the school curriculum, needing to be re-signified and problematized. Thus, the decision was made to focus on the games, sports, and martial arts of these two ethnic groups, aiming to counter the discourses rooted in racist representations of indigenous and black people. At the end of the study, we believe that we achieved the emergence of more equitable and just educational practices, contributing to the implementation of Laws 10.639/03 and 11.645/08.
