The hegemonic conceptions of leisure center the discussion on the dualistic perspective of leisure as a counterpoint to work, and may therefore not include non-standard groups not suited to Western-style work. This text discusses whether people with disabilities are excluded from hegemonic conceptions of leisure. To this end, a narrative review of classic (hegemonic) and contemporary (critical of hegemonic conceptions) authors was carried out, and hermeneutics-dialectics was chosen as the data interpretation technique. At the end of the analysis, three categories emerged: Work, Free Time, and Social Exclusion/Inclusion. The categories reveal that people with disabilities are excluded from hegemonic conceptions of leisure. This exclusion, however, is not only a theoretical limitation but also a reflection of the social structure itself, which is not yet fully inclusive. In this sense, there is still incompleteness in contemporary conceptions, which still need to make progress.
