Abstract

The proportion of women who use medicines during the pregnancy is quite high. Besides the medicines, maternal disease and other products may be potentially teratogenic. The present study was aimed at assessing the proportion of pregnant women, in a university hospital, who were exposed to teratogenic agents in the pregnancy. We managed to interview 96 women in the immediate postpartum. About 60 of the women reported the intake of alcohol, tobacco or medicines, whereas 10% reported that were hypertensive during the pregnancy.
