Abstract

This review examines Michel Dobry’s theory of fluid conjunctures as developed in his work The sociology of political crisis: a theory of fluid conjunctures (Bloomsbury Academy, 2025). It articulates key concepts such as multisectoral mobilizations, desectorization, and collusive transactions, emphasising Dobry’s critique of what he terms as the fallacies in the study of institutional ruptures. Furthermore, the review assesses the analytical potency of the work and its implications for contemporary political sociology.
