Abstract

The purpose of this article is to make an analysis of South Korea’s cultural industry, considering the historical development of the country and the Hallyu, highlighting milestones of greater relevance in the political-economic strategy and covering the entire post-independence period up to the present day. For this, it will be used Joseph Nye’s ideas about soft power as a basis; conducting a study on the way manifestations of South Korean culture were institutionalized and transformed into political power, taking the State out of the post-war crisis. From this, the article aims to understand the creation process of  South Korea’s image on the international scene. Therefore, it will be noticeable that the use of soft power contributed to the development of its foreign policy, entailing an increase in the economy, tourism, visibility and influence of the country.
