Abstract

The theoretical tradition of tragedy - unresolved and insoluble conflict - is the theoretical formulation that guides us to analyze the Munich Agreement (1938). We start from the assumption - in a confractual scenario - that whether England and France gave in or not to Hitler's blackmail in the Munich Agreement we would have the anticipation of the occurrence of World War II (September 1, 1939). In other words, the inevitability of war, from a tragic perspective, is linked to the German foreign policy (aggressive and expansive) of the Third Reich and the appeasement policy of the British and French. Therefore, Munich is a turning point in the appeasement policy of the English and French. We will use data, charts, demonstrated that even with Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain's pathetic and empty gesture of returning to London and saying that he brought peace to Europe, there were significant increases - different from the appeasement period - in French, British and German arms production from the months following September 1938. In other words, the war drums of September 1938 already foreshadowed the arrival of god Mars (god of War).
