About the Journal
Focus, Scope, and History
The Campos Neutrais Journal prioritizes the publication of original works that present relevant and innovative contributions to the production of knowledge in political science, international relations, foreign policy, comparative politics, and public policy.
The Campos Neutrais Journal fosters internal and specialized debate in the area of Political Science and International Relations in Latin America, as well as promoting reflection on the disciplinary boundaries themselves. It aims to incorporate the most diverse perspectives into the debate, encouraging knowledge production, academic dialogue, and theoretical and methodological advancement.
In 2017, the International Relations Course approved, together with the Council of the Faculty of Law of the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG) (Minutes 04/2017), a project aimed at creating a scientific journal for the course. Thus was born Campos Neutrais — Revista Latino-Americana de Relações Internacionais (ISSN 2596-1314), a quarterly publication of the International Relations course at the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG). The journal aims to disseminate and improve scientific production dedicated to research and understanding of foreign policy, international relations, and comparative politics.
The name chosen for the journal is linked to the history of the municipality of Santa Vitória do Palmar, in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, located on the border with Uruguay. This region is known as Campos Neutrais, a name given by the Treaty of Santo Ildefonso (1777) to the strip of land that extends from the Taim wetlands to the Chuí stream, whose possession could not be claimed by Portugal and Spain.
