This scientific article addresses the topic of socio-environmental climate justice, emphasizing the importance of including original peoples in international democratic discussions, especially in Conferences of the Parties (COP’s). The research aims to investigate, in general, how the participation of these groups can contribute to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing particularly on SDG no. 13, which aims to adopt urgent measures against global climate change. The guiding problem of the study can be summarized in the following question: how can the inclusion of original peoples in COPs can strengthen climate justice and help Brazil achieve SDG no. 13? The embryonic hypothesis lies in the idea that this inclusion gives visibility to decolonial knowledge from the Global South, enhancing the fight against climate injustice and justifying the relevance of thematic verticalization. Thus, the article is structured in two sections, which specifically aim to analyze: the contextualization of the climate emergency and the need for global co-responsibility; the importance of the participation of indigenous peoples in climate discussions at national and international levels. Regarding methodological resources, the hypothetical-deductive scientific method was used through a qualitative approach, exploratory monographic procedures and bibliographic research techniques. Furthermore, theoretical understanding was made possible through legal interpretation with a sociological bias, recognizing Law as a dynamic social science. Finally, it is clear that a broader and more inclusive intercultural dialogue can contribute to the fulfillment of climate agendas, especially at the national level.
