A IMPORTÂNCIA DOS BIOTÉRIOS NA PESQUISA EXPERIMENTAL

Abstract

Animal houses are facilities capable to produce and to keep animal species for research in different areas of science. Independent of species or lineages used, it is important that handling and maintenance of laboratory animals are in accordance with the ethical principles of animal experimentation. The care with environment and microenvironment, as well as the sanitary conditions of animal houses, are indispensable to have not interference in research results. It is necessary to stimulate the researchers to unify efforts for implantation of sector animal houses in their institutions, in order to optimize spaces and human and financial resources for animals’ maintenance. Thus, research institutions must invest in the construction and maintenance of breeding and experimentation animal houses, for promoting the development of science and technology with direct influence in the public health.
