As an attempt to answer questions about programs on psychoactive drugs, the team of CENPRE (Center of Studies for Prevention and Recovery of Chemical Dependents) conducted a cross sectional search among students of the Technical School Prof. Mario Alquati – Universidade Federal do Rio Grande (CTI/FURG, Rio Grande, RS, Brazil). The results showed that 69.4% of the students have never had experience with drugs and that the contact with the substances is greater in technical courses (28.2%) than in high school. Among the students, 84% reported never having had contact with any program on drug prevention in the school and consider the current campaigns informative and not efficient (59.2%). Studies are essential for the analysis of the population, which contribute as an instrument in the construction of prevention strategies as a way to reduce the damage caused to the individual and to the society with the use of drugs.Downloads
